COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015:
After our last spotlight color Stormy Weather, it's time for the sun to come out with the golden shade of Oak Buff. Pantone says Oak Buff is a "mellow, comforting and warming shade that brings good feelings." The golden-mustard tone can act as a great accent color, and will be seen everywhere in prints and interior decor.
Gemstones with the Oak Buff color include citrine, amber, sapphire, golden beryl, yellow diamonds and South Sea golden pearls. The yellow hue has just enough of the warm orange tinge to make this a standout shade in the Fall 2015 color palette. Add a little sunshine to your life with Oak Buff like this Precious Topaz.
COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015: STORMY WEATHER
No Pantone color palette is complete without a classic neutral that can pair well with any outfit. Stormy Weather, a tone reminiscent of the dark gray skies on an overcast day, perfectly fits the bill. Pantone describes Stormy Weather as a "powerful blue gray shade that is strong, protective and enduring."
Lucky for us, the grey-ish Stormy Weather hue shares a shade with some gemstones as well as metals! For gemstones, iolite, chalcedony and Tahitian pearls show off the Stormy Weather shade, while metals like blackened sterling silver have the dark gray effect. This neutral color is the go-to alternative to your all-black look this fall like these Tahitian Black Pearl Earrings.
COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015: CASHMERE ROSE
Think pink! Pantone sweetened up their Fall 2015 color palette with the delicate shade of Cashmere Rose. With classic vibes mixed with a modern chic appeal, this soft hue adds a refreshing dose of color. Pantone describes Cashmere Rose as a "gentle and composed pink that is more upscale than downtown."
The soft pink color of Cashmere Rose can be found in multiple gemstones including pink sapphires, pink opals and pink tourmaline. This pink hue still possesses a striking feminine touch, but the updated shade of Cashmere Rose adds a chic and sophisticated spin. Blending the best of both the old and new, Cashmere Rose is sure to make a statement like these Rose Quartz and Diamond Earrings.
COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015: DESERT SAGE
Next up on our Fall 2015 color spotlight is Desert Sage, a relaxing light green that acts as a great neutral. Like its Dried Herb counterpart, Desert Sage has an organic feel that connects us to the real and natural world. Pantone describes Desert Sage as a "timeless and unobtrusive" shade that is "stylishly powerful enough to make an impactful statement on its own."
Green quartz possesses the soothing cool hue that is so closely associated with the Desert Sage tone. The greenish-grey color is very versatile and can pair with just about any outfit like this greenish Tahitian Pearl!
COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015: REFLECTING POND
With the playful and fun colors of the Pantone Fall 2015 color palette comes the more serious and deep shades. Reflecting Pond is a "cooling blue with a lot depth" that "speaks to our need for stability and security." This navy shade is sure to keep us warm in these cooler month.
Gemstones with the rich, deep blue hue include sapphires and tanzanite. Whether it's set in silver, gold or platinum, these dark blue gemstones will be great for the fall and how can you go wrong with a Sapphire and Diamond ring like this one?
COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015: AMETHYST ORCHID
We're kicking off our review of the Pantone Fall 2015 Color Report with a hue that shares its name with a purple gemstone -- Amethyst Orchid. Pantone describes Amethyst Orchid as an "intriguing, vibrant and somewhat sensual" color, and brings a bold pop to the Fall 2015 Color Palette. Maybe we're biased because of its name, but we can't get enough of this hue!
Because of its gemstone name, you won't have to look too hard to find some jewels that match the Amethyst Orchid color. Whether it's surrounded by diamonds or making a statement on its own, amethyst is easy to wear and adds a fun dash of color. Other gemstones to consider with the Amethyst Orchid color include mother of pearl and tanzanite as well as Purple Sapphire like this one.
COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015: CADMIUM ORANGE
Time for a touch of tangerine! Who doesn't love a punch of peachy orange to add into the accessories mix? Pantone brings you Cadmium Orange, a playful orange with a '60s and '70s vibe. Pantone described Cadmium Orange as a "warm, welcoming and subtly dramatic orange shade that is striking enough to stand on its own or act as a bold contrast."
In the jewelry world, orange gemstones pair well with yellow gold and pave diamonds. Gemstones with the Cadmium Orange color include mandarin garnet, topaz and orange chalcedony. Go bold with a striking orange gemstone that is sure to catch the eye such as this Spessartite Garnet.
COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015: DRIED HERB
The organic shade of Dried Herb was a natural addition to Pantone's Fall 2015 Color Palette. Once referred to as an Army green, Dried Herb has taken over as a sophisticated and chic green color. Pantone refers to Dried Herb as an "organic shade redolent of nature's earthy fragrances."
It's only natural that the organic color of Dried Herb would be found in a variety of different gemstones. Alexandrite, nephrite jade, quartz and gray agate have the greenish tinge to fall into this color trend. The sophisticated shade can either act as a neutral background or the center of attention like this Alexandrite.
COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2015: BISCAY BAY
Summer is still sticking around with the cool hue of Biscay Bay. Pantone states that the deep teal color "invokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters, taking us to a place that is pleasant and inviting." For those looking for an endless summer, Biscay Bay may be just what you need.
Gemstones with a blue-green tropical tint channel the Biscay Bay shade. London blue topaz, blue zircon and Paraiba tourmaline all possess the cool hue inspired by this color trend. Note this intense Blue Zircon ring.
